I develop statistical models and software for high-dimensional biomedical data with complex structure, with the aim of producing results that are useful in the clinic.
My group’s methods draw on hierarchical Bayesian modeling, variable selection, functional and geometric data analysis, spatial statistics, and network models. We work with data from digital cognitive tests, spatial omics, geospatial surveys, and biomedical imaging, mainly in neurodegenerative disease (especially Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias) and in cancer. We look for features that can be interpreted, prediction models that hold up on new data, and explanations that make biological sense, so that the results can inform decisions in patient care and public health.
